Hello and thank you for considering to sponsor us this season! We are Team 2489, The Insomniacs, who participate in the annual FIRST Robotics Competition. The FIRST Robotics Competition is where teams of 20 or more students, under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, are challenged to build and program industrial sized robots. These robots participate in a challenge against like minded teams. Also, the team shows kids how a small scale business works. Aspects of this business include raising funds, designing a team brand, and developing teamwork skills to complete the tasks.
Our team was founded in 2008 with the primary goal of exposing as many high schoolers as we could to the fields of engineering. Our team provides pre-college students with engineering and business experience by introducing them to the real world problem-solving. We give students the opportunity to participate in a challenging but rewarding competition in a diverse, fun, and professional environment that results in a tangible product as well as meaningful rewards. With the help of professional mentors, we inspire students to participate as leaders in science and engineering.
We have had great success in the past years. In 2013, our team achieved first place at the Sacramento state competition and did exponentially better at the World’s competition at St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to this accomplishment, we won an off-season event, CalGames in 2014, where more than 50 teams participated. These victories have motivated our team to accomplish much more in the future and help spread the idea of technology to the new and upcoming generations in our Bay Area community.
Our team is fiscally sponsored by Playing at Learning, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Playing at Learning has also graciously provided us with a premise where we are able to work throughout our season. Since we do not get funding from Fremont Unified School District, we rely on local businesses to sponsor us. It would be great if you could provide our team with a sponsorship or donation. Any amount would help our team reach our full potential. In return, we will feature your logo on our robot, T-shirts, banners, website and any other promotional item we create. In addition, we would love to learn from you and would appreciate any mentors that your company could provide for our team.
